From the Executive Director

As we approach the Nevada Housing Coalition’s Annual Statewide Housing Conference on October 16th & 17th in Sparks, NV, we are excited to crack into this year’s theme, Digging In. This theme captures the heart of our collective efforts to tackle one of the state’s most pressing challenges… Affordable Housing. Just as a builder digs deep to lay a solid foundation, we too are digging deeper into the solutions, collaborations, and policy changes necessary to address Nevada’s housing crisis.
In construction, the groundwork is crucial for a stable structure, and the same applies to our work in housing. The issues we face; scarce land, rising costs, and labor shortages are not easily fixable. They require us to dig in, to explore innovative approaches, such as utilizing federal lands, advancing sustainable building practices, and securing long-term funding. These efforts serve as the foundation for lasting change.
|
This conference is not just a gathering of experts; it is a place to roll up our sleeves and put our ideas into action. It is about unearthing opportunities, from public-private partnerships to legislative changes, and leveraging our collective experience to push forward. The sessions will dive deep into the complexities of housing finance, development, and preservation, while offering practical strategies to break through barriers.
As we gather in Sparks, I encourage all of you to dig in with us. Together, we can lay the foundation for a more equitable, sustainable, and affordable housing future for all Nevadans. Let us make this year’s conference the start of a stronger, more unified effort to address the housing needs of our communities. We look forward to seeing you on October 16th and 17th at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks. Click here for more information and to purchase your tickets.
