August 2024 Newsletter

From the Executive Director

Over the past few months, our office has repeatedly been asked to interview and provide feedback on the number one issue in Nevada: Affordable Housing. While other concerns are important, the message remains clear - nearly every challenge we face today ties back to the critical need for sustainable and affordable housing.

This is an issue that transcends political lines. Whether you're on the left or the right, we can all agree on the urgent need to ensure that everyone has access to a safe, stable place to call home. The demand for funding has never been higher, and if we truly want to make it easier for people to find affordable rentals, we must take decisive action now. If you haven’t registered already, I invite you to join us at our annual Nevada Housing Conference on October 16th and 17th in Sparks. There will be opportunities to discuss ideas and network.

The solution begins with building more multifamily rentals that cater to our seniors and working people. However, to make this a reality, we must come together, set aside our differences, and clear the path for progress. By doing so, we can create a future where affordable housing is within reach for every Nevadan.

Let’s unite to build a more equitable and accessible housing market, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
